Government agrees to Gazprom"s demand - main condition of agreement changes

Georgian government has agreed on Gazprom"s demands and an agreement with Russian company will be amended for the first time duing the last 15 years. Georgian side is ready to fulfill Gazprom"s request, which means monetary compensation for gas transit to Armenia.

According to Kakha Kaladze, 2-year contract will be signed with Gazprom . in 2017 Georgia will receive a monetary compensation only partly, while in 2018 Gazprom will pay for whole amount of transit.

Remains unknown what is the cost for transfer of natural gas to Armenia.

The parliamentary opposition states that the decision is Russian economic anexation.
Dimitri Kumsishvili, a first Vice Prime Minister states that the interests of the state are protected.

Some experts emand explanations from the government. According to them, the government should respond on the question, why they have agreed to change conditions .

Non-parliamentary opposition has reminded to the government that Gazprom is a main leverage of political pressure for Russia. A former head of the Regulatory commission commented on the ties between Gazprom and Georgia"s former PM- Bidzina Ivanishvili today.
