Famous Georgian novelist dies at 92

Famous Georgian novelist and soviet-era dissident Chabua Amirejibi died at the age of 92. Chabua Amirejibi was born in Tbilisi no November 18, 1921. Amirejibi`s most famous novel and one of the best works in modern Georgian literature, Data Tutashkhia, which brought fame to the writer.

On November 16, 2010, he was consecrated as a Georgian Orthodox monk under the name of David. Due to his health condition, the ceremony was conducted at the writer`s own apartment.

The greatest novelist and public worker of our epoch, Chabua Amirejibi died after a long-lasting illness last night.
