Georgia-US sign another partnership deal

On 27 February 2009, Addendum to the "Joint Document of U.S and Georgian delegations on Georgia’s Priority Needs to Improve Its Capabilities to Combat Nuclear Smuggling” was signed at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia.
The Addendum from the Georgian side has been signed by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia Alexander Nalbandov, First Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Ekaterine Zguladze, First Deputy Minister of Justice Tinatin Burjaliani, Deputy Minister of Defense Giorgi Muchaidze, Deputy Minister of Environment Protection and Natural Resources Davit Ioseliani and Deputy Head of the Revenue Service Irakli Siradze and from the US side by the Ambassador of the United States of America to Georgia John F. Tefft. The signature ceremony was attended by the Special representative of the States Department of USA Michael Staford.
The Addendum envisages providing state agencies of Georgia involved in the sphere of nuclear and radiation security with modern equipment, information-sharing between the respective US and Georgian services, training of Georgian experts and other required activities.
The signing of the Addendum to the Joint Document is another proof of Georgian-American strategic partnership and fruitful cooperation aimed to improve effectiveness of Georgia’s border and customs services as well as other respective agencies in combating nuclear smuggling and strengthening peace and security in the region.
