Moscow accuses Belarus of playing double game. Russian political experts and MPs have responded to the Belarus leader`s statement from Saint Petersburg, where they are attending the 13th Economic Forum. Alexander Lukashenko said recently that Belarus does not intend to recognize independence of Georgia`s two breakaway regions - Abkhazia and South Ossetia.
Russian political experts explain that representatives of other countries had suggested them to recognize Abkhazia and South Ossetia in return certain terms in private talks, although the Russian side did not agree to the suggestion because it founds firm decisions more important than impulsive steps.
The Russian political experts and MPs say that they are not trying to bribe Alexander Lukashenko, but they are just trying to implement investments in the countries they would like to keep ties with. They say, Lukashenko thinks he still has a chance to return to Europe, but due to firm moral views, Belarus remains unacceptable for Europe. Russian political experts assert the Belarus leader wants to have good relations with Russia and Europe at the same time.
As for the economic forum, it is continues working. Official representative of the Gazprom Russian gas company told Georgian journalists that the South Flow project is being implemented for export of Russian gas, hence it cannot compete with alternative projects, like Nabucco. They also said the project intended for providing so-called South Ossetia with gas supply, will be implemented according to the plan. The head of the Union of Russian Enterprisers said it would be good, if the Georgian side had attended the economic forum.
