U.S. Embassy has published a letter of condolence, which says that `The entire U.S. Embassy community extends our deepest sympathies to the family of First Lieutenant Mukhran Shukvani and to the people of Georgia for the loss they have suffered in Afghanistan.
The body of the first lieutenant, company commander of 31st battalion Mukhran Shukvani, serving in peacekeeping mission in Afghanistan, will be delivered to homeland in a few days. Mikheil Shukvani died in an explosion during fulfilling his duties in the Helmand Province.
The delegation of American Congressional Representatives has expressed deepest condolences on the death of Georgian officer, First Lieutenant Mukhran Shukvani. The officer died in a land mine explosion in Afghanistan`s Province of Helmand, where the Georgian peacekeepers were fulfilling their duties.
One Georgian officer was killed and one corporal injured in teh incident in Afghanistan. Other details are not known so far.
Fire broke out Sunday in the woods in the town of Mtskheta, close to Tbilisi, on the road to Shio Mghvime Monastery. The disaster has already consumed 15 hectares of teh area. Five fire brigades are working on the site.
