Ukraine`s CEC announces results of the presidential runoff

The chairperson of the Ukraine`s Central Election Commission has announced the results of the presidential runoff at the official press conference today. Vladimir Shapoval said the elections have been successfully conducted. According to the latest reports, the CEC has counted 97% of the vote. The leader of the Party of Regions Viktor Yanukovich is already celebrating the victory with 2% lead in the runoff. The CEC says Yanukovich gained 48,5% of the vote and the incumbent president, Yulia Timoshenko- 45,9%/ 4,41% of the voters voted against both candidates.
The coins will no longer be used in Tbilisi metropolitan because of a new form of payment - plastic cards, which will be adopted for travelling by subway from tomorrow.
A murder has occurred in Tbilisi late last night. 21 year-old sportsman, arm-wrestler Zaur Shabulishvili was killed from a pistol gun on Samtredia Street. The injured man was hospitalized to Ghudushauri clinic; however, doctors said he was already dead when examined at the reception.
The fire broke out in the occupied village of Eredvi late last night. The abandoned houses of ethnic Georgians were in fire. Georgian police saw several kilometre long line of fire beyond the boundary line and proposed help to the Russian side to extinguish it; however, they rejected the offer.
The IDPs residing in the Tsalenjikha district, Samegrelo Region, will be provided with free medical examination. The group of twenty doctors arrived in the region together with the chairperson for the Abkhazian Supreme Council, Giorgi Baramia today.
